Red Ribbon Kick-off Assembly

Meadow Lane hosted the Community Kick-off Assembly for Red Ribbon Week today. We listened to sixth graders speak about the history of Red Ribbon Week.

The Northern Stars from Lee's Summit North shared how important it is to keep your body healthy by eating the right foods, exercising, and staying away from drugs, tobacco and alcohol.

Then they showed us how keeping their bodies healthy helped them as dancers. Lots of us want to stay healthy so we can be dancers as good as they are!

Randy Rhoads, the mayor of Lee's Summit also spoke. He read a proclamation honoring Red Ribbon Week.

Last we heard from KC Wolf, Dan Meers. He spoke about the three keys to success.

Attitude (It's a check-up from the neck up!)
Behavior (You can be a bee or you can be a buzzard.)
Character (It's who you are even when no one else is watching.)

By having these three keys, we are likely to lead a happy and joyful life.

The assembly ended with the Lee's Summit North Drum Line. They were awesome!

It was great to see so many people come together to celebrate Red Ribbon Week! There are so many people in the community to help guide us make good choices.
